EOT currently not working

Hi there,
My client has a site and the members signing up are not being assigned an EOT. Everything else seems to be working. Please let me know if there is something I should be looking at. Thank you,

Hi Jeff.

What are you selling them? If it’s a buy-now, then the EOT should be immediate. If it’s a subscription, no EOT time would be set while the subscription is active. When the subscription ends, then the EOT time gets set.

Does that explain the behaviour, or are you having the subscriptions end and no EOT time is set on the user’s profile? If this is the case, do you have the log entries related to those cases? If not, please enable logging, reproduce the behaviour, and show me all the relevant entries, please.

That would explain the EOT, but the members aren’t being listed as belonging to a ‘Role.’

Thanks for the details.

Not sure why you’re getting the 1 cent, the shortcode attribute seems fine… It’s as if the default value were being used, ignoring the one in the shortcode…

Sometimes PayPal is picky, but I don’t remember if it’d complain about the 12 M for the trial when the 1 Y is available… Could you try 11 M o 51 W as a test? The test could be for 3 cents, if it will turn it into 1 cent, it’ll likely do it regardless of the amount you set.

The level not set may be related to the same thing causing the trial amount problem…

What do your logs say in the entries related to the transaction? WP Admin > s2Member > Log Files

Yes, the only logs able to be viewed are the reg handler and s2-http-api-debug logs. The first 3 are blank.
How can I send you the logs privately?

Additional?: No

I will try changing the date setting in the button, test and report back here.

It is on php 7.4
Also there is a firewall.
The site is hosted with godaddy.

Now that I’m reading through the logs, they’re useless because they’re from 2013. Please let me know what I can do. This is a large problem as customers are being turned away and my client is upset.

I just triple checked my button code, and I am wondering if the problem was that for each button, it had both 1Y and 12M. That probably was the culprit? I just tried to regenerate the PayPal buttons and it came out as now = 1Y and recurring = 1Y. I guess we will have to test to find out.

Hi Cristian,
I just did a test.
The registration for the below test is nowhere to be seen in the Users.
It’s also showing the recurring charge to be .01 cent.
Here is what the log recorded.

Okay, so that test still sets the regular amount to 1 cent…

(For the coming tests you can also set the trial to 2 or 3 cents only, so you don’t need to bother with refunds after the testing.)

I don’t believe that this is something in s2. I have never seen this behavior before… I suspect something is messing with the shortcode somehow, so I’d like to test that and rule it out before digging through code that may have nothing to do with the issue.

Could you please test for conflicts from other plugins or the theme? Please make sure you don’t have some forgotten code in functions.php or the mu-plugins folder. Deactivate other plugins and change theme to default. You can change everything at once to test, or do it gradually testing again after each change.

You can also first test in a clean installation of wordpress (maybe you already have a testing or development site you can use for this), and see if you can reproduce it there.

You seem to have tested with different periods already, right? Those were for 1 month instead of 1 year, right? So that that variable doesn’t seem to be causing the issue.

Not with PayPal, they don’t allow editing the subscription, that I’m aware of. With the Express Checkout it is possible through the API to change the amount a bit, but only up to 20% in a 180-day period…

It seems to me that the best course of action there would be to figure out what is causing the issue in your setup, sort it out, and then have these customers subscribe again.

What if recurring charge is still .01 after turning off plugins and defaulting the theme?

When asking the 10+ members to re-sign up, do I first delete them from members and let them re-register? How can we effectively do that?

Hi Cristian,
At 10pm last night steps I took:

  1. Change purchase to 3 cents and recurring 3 cents
  2. Put up ‘out of order’ sign
  3. Turn on Logging
  4. Deactivate other plugins except S2
  5. change theme to default
  6. visit purchase page
  7. purchase
  8. check logs for .01 recurring
  9. delete from Users
  10. Repeat

Only I didn’t get to repeat.
With the theme as another theme and all of the plugins turned off except S2, it STILL gave the 1 cents recurring.

It seems to me that the 1 cent problem may have started in Jan. when we purchased S2 Pro and installed it. Not quite sure WHAT is causing that. It’s a tiny, but huge problem.

If you could please answer this question also, it would be most helpful:

Thank you for doing that test. Hmm… Very odd.

Would it be possible for me to take a closer look at your installation and do some tests myself? If you agree, then please send me a private message with the details.

About recreating those subscriptions, they don’t need to re-register. Just have them login to their existing account before going to the payment page. But first we need to get the subscription working for more than 1 cent.
