Will recurring subscriptions be managed if user account is changed?

We have a scenario that’s pretty common:

  • a long time user inadvertently creates a new account rather than upgrading in order to continue her account with us.
  • we get an email from her asking us to restore her progress data from the original account.
  • for us the solution is this: (1) manually edit the original account so that it’s at the desired level, and delete the new account. We also copy over the new Paid Subscriber ID (RP…) to the original account.

QUESTION: Will PayPal recognize this? Is copying over just the Paid Subscriber ID enough to tell PayPal Manager that this is the correct recurring account and handle everything like normal?
