Im just setting up a s2 site and noticing new users from Russia. I
m suspecting hacking potential so I deleted these accounts, temporarily disabled login and installed the free wordfence plugin. Any other suggestions?
Thanks so much, Christopher
Suspecting hacking potential
Yes. First, don’t use Wordfence! It has a history of being hacked itself, and its reports are often more about inaccurate marketing than analytical investigations.
Second, install WP Bruiser: https://wordpress.org/plugins/goodbye-captcha/
Thanks Tim! I noticed that WPBruiser is not integrated with S2 Member. Will it work just as well even though there isn`t specific integration?
Christopher
It depends. If you’re using s2Member forms, then no. Perhaps I should ask the s2Member devs to talk to the WP Bruiser dev about this?
But if you’re using the regular login and registration forms, then yes, because s2Member’s effect on them is purely cosmetic.
Im using the free version and I
m pretty sure it uses standard WP login and registration. Its the pro version that has it
s own forms. Correct? I certainly would like to see the S2Member and WPBruiser integration happen. Thanks for anything you can do to further this!
Thanks again Tim,
Christopher
Yes, the free version just uses the standard WP login and registration forms.
I have posted a request for integration of s2Member Pro with WP Bruiser here: https://github.com/websharks/s2member/issues/971 Feel free to login on Github and vote for it!
