Subscription suddenly glitching on Feb 1st

So I had 2 members try to sign up today, after the clock ticked over to Feb 1st here in Australia.

I have changed nothing between yesterday and today.

Here’s what has happened.

  1. Paypal has taken their initial payment, but told them there was an error and the payment hasn’t competed (I had one person do this 5 times because she thought it wasn’t working!).

  2. Paypal has created a payment profile for each of these payments (same person, same email) but without connecting the actual payment they made. Where it says ‘last invoiced amount’ it has a value of zero.

  3. The customers have not been redirected to my site to set up a profile.

I went through this process myself and the same thing happened.

Has anyone else experienced this?

As I said, I changed nothing between Jan 31 (when things were working fine) and Feb 1 (when this error has happened).

If nothing has changed at your end, chances are that it’s a change at PayPal’s end. I suggest you talk to them.

One thing that I noticed that may have been causing this issue… I was using software called Proof - which allows you to add popups to your sales page listing new signups. It had been working fine for a week or so, but…

I was on the free trial, and hit the ‘limit’ yesterday of the level I signed up for (got an email saying I would be upgraded to the next level) but because I’m on the trial, not paid membership, I think it glitched out.

When I was editing my button I noticed it was taking forever to load, and my site kept requesting data from the Proof site. So I’ve canned that app, and fingers crossed it may have fixed the problem. Will update when I know for sure in case anyone else comes a cropper of this issue.
