Security Badge unremovable?

Hello, I enabled the security badge, It was always hanging out on the left, which I didn’t like. Following some threads here, I disabled it but the graphics remained. So I deleted the graphics in my files also on a thread.

Now i just have the short code hanging out at the bottom the site in the bottom left area. How do I remove it? https://www.easlce.eu

Thanks. A

Can you share what you have done? For example, did you change the S2 Member General Options for the security badge back to “No”? The short-code you are seeing is from your footer. If you did not put it in, that could also be coming from the general options in S2 Member. Blank out the green box under “Customize WordPress Footer” within the S2 Member Security Badge area and remember to scroll all the way to the bottom of the General Options and click on “Save all changes”.

Hi, I had tried a myriad of methods to remove it, always saving at the end. Even after being disabled it showed up. I just disabled it again and now am flushing my cache etc… keep you posted.
Thanks

Hmmm still there… so this is what I did.

  • Disabled the badge
  • Press Save
  • It was still there
  • Emptied cookies and cache
  • Deleted DNS cache
  • Still there…
  • Deleted badge graphics
  • Short code there…
  • Uploaded the files of the plugin again with badge in it.
  • enabled it
  • saved
  • Shortcode there…
  • Disabled it
  • Saved
  • No graphic but short code still there.

It looks to me that you simply haven’t removed the shortcode from wherever you inserted it. Did you put it within the page content, or did you add it to a template?

Hi Tim, it appeared after I enabled the security badge.
I don’t see it in any widgets or template footer files.

OK, Alexa, could you try deactivating W3 Total Cache, and let me know what happens then?

Also, I see you are using W3’s object caching feature. That is not compatible with s2Member.

Okay, will do, is there a cache plugin that is?

You should be able to use W3 Total Cache without object caching. (I asked you to deactivate it just to see if it was the cause of the issue here.) But I hate W3.

I use Comet Cache because it’s by the same developers as s2Member, and I haven’t had a problem with it. I have the Pro version, but I see you aren’t compressing your javascript or CSS with W3, so you should be fine with the free version of Comet Cache.

Okay it is disabled.

Hmmm… but the shortcode is still there… also cookies have been deleted again, cache emptied. I looked through the template files as well for the theme but don’t see a shortcode anywhere. Does this have to do with the security badge api?
I appreciate the help!

Ha! SO…

I see what it was… just in case this comes up again… the short code was generated by the security badge. If it is disabled, you need to remove it in the field within the Security Badge settings. Otherwise even if its disabled ithe short code will hang out there!

Great that you found it!

Yes, just figured it out…
Thanks for trouble shooting and the reference to comet cache!

Yes, that is what I meant by, “Blank out the green box under “Customize WordPress Footer” within the S2 Member Security Badge area” - I’m glad you found it!
