I am using sample code on a custom form. It has worked for years but now displays only the shortcode, not the User’s first name as expected. Anybody else having this issue?

That’s the thing, there has been no change to the site. I have also tested deactivating other plug-ins and the problem persists.
That can’t actually be true. Something must have changed. The problem is that, at the moment, you just don’t know what.
You could try talking to your host to see if they have any insight.
