S2 generates multiple http 403 errors when logged in

I have a website using S2Member v160801. This is generating multiple http 403 errors in the log, which in turn is triggering the fail2ban intrusion detection system and blocking the logged-in user. These errors are generated even while simply browsing the site. Any suggestions what may be wrong?

The http 403 errors are for the following URLs:

GET /wp-content/plugins/s2member/s2member-o.php?ws_plugin__s2member_js_w_globals=1f49a6a9f9afecb04ea4910655a84ee8&qcABC=1&ver=160801-2574749181 HTTP/1.0
GET /wp-content/plugins/s2member/s2member-o.php?ws_plugin__s2member_css=1&qcABC=1&ver=160801-2574749181 HTTP/1.0

Note: I disabled every other plugin on the website, with the same effect.

Try to reinstall s2M - you may have some damaged file(s). If still don’t work, try to reinstall WP itself.
