Remove S2 roles

I have a problem I am hoping someone here can help me resolve. I have taken over a site that previously used S2 Member. The plugin is no longer there, but there seems to be artifacts of roles (I see S2Member Level 1, 2, 3 and 4) that I am concerned about from a security perspective not to mention clutterware of something not being used and should not be there anyway.

Can anyone here give me some guidance on how to remove these roles? Do I have to install S2 Member to get rid of them? If yes, can you direct me to exactly what I need to do so that I don’t have to learn S2 Member just to get rid of these roles?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

If you want to remove them without going into the WordPress database directly or installing a role/capabilities management plugin, you’ll need to install s2Member. Then go to WP Dashboard → s2Member → General Settings → Plugin Deletion Safeguards. Set this option to No (upon deletion erase all data options). Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Save All Changes button.

After that, deactivate and delete s2Member. This should rid you of all database artifacts.
