I am trying to configure a Paypal Check out and I believe the https end point check on the PayPal Options / PayPal Checkout (beta) is reporting a false “HTTPS endpoint returned HTTP 403” and then disabling the ability to configure the PayPal check out.
My Bluehost provider support reports a valid SSl cert and there is no mixed content. I have disabled all plugins to eliminated any conflicting content. I have ask Gemini AI to test for an https ssl endpoint and has successfully found one. The response:
Yes, https://www.rmc-nargs.org has a valid HTTPS endpoint.
When accessing the site, the connection is secure and the SSL/TLS certificate is active. Here are the details of the check:
Status: The site is successfully serving content over HTTPS.
Security: The connection is encrypted, which protects data transferred between the user and the server.
Certificate Validity: The certificate is currently valid (issued for the domain rmc-nargs.org and its www subdomain).
I have also configured the plugin in Events Manager Pro - PayPal with the Rest integration and it is successfully working with PayPal. So I believe the issue is with s2member.
BlueHost support when reviewing the error finds: It looks like the plugin is using API, and unfortunately API will not work in a shared hosting plan. You need a VPS or a dedicated hosting plan for APIs to work fine. Please try contacting the plugin provider and check if there is any other method than API for it to work fine or if it needs any server-end updates for it; we will help you with it.
A shared hosting plan is a very common solution. Again, the PayPal check is working in another plugin. I just need to get a configuration into s2member.
12 Feb 2026 update: Replaced PalPal with Stripe credit card processing. s2member configuration for Stripe worked with no issues. Moving forward with the world…
