Once download limit is reached, user is still directed to protected file

Hello All,

I had a coworker test my download links and she commented that after she reached her download limit, the pop-up window stopped showing up and her browser took her directly to the file, instead of the “Download Limit Exceeded” page.

Have I missed a setting somewhere?

Hi Toni,

That’s odd.

I’m assuming you have a Membership Options Page, Basic Download Restrictions, and a Download Limit Exceeded Page configured. Is that correct?

Were you able to reproduce the behavior that your friend described?

If you were, could you please try these? https://s2member.com/kb-article/common-troubleshooting-tips/ (you can ignore the MySQL warning in the Server Scanner)

Hello!

Thank you so much for your reply. I was able to reproduce the behavior and then after some various testing (starting with disabling plugins) I discovered that it was because we were both admins (facepalm)

I tested it with a non-admin user and it works as expected.

Not sure why I didn’t think of that first, but hopefully this post will help others!

Well, that sometimes can happen. It’s funny, I actually wrote in my reply above, asking if she was an admin, but then removed it before posting.
