New paying members unable to register

Hi,

My paying members are getting a message saying “User registration is currently not allowed”. They also appear not to be getting the confirmation email. What’s happening here?

I can’t allow registration for everyone because only paid members are allowed access. I’m using the s2member latest version and as far as I know, there are no conflicting plugins.

Your help would be appreciated,
Brandon

Why are your paying members attempting to register? If they are members, they are already registered.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

They click a ‘Join Now’ button which is my paypal button. They are sent off the site to a paypal checkout page, they pay, then redirected to a page that tells them to then fill in their registration details - but the registration page says, “User registration is currently not allowed”. This isn’t using s2member pro forms where they fill out registration details beforehand.

Are you using s2Member Pro and just choosing not to use Pro-Forms for some reason?

I know that disabling open registration disables the WordPress registration form. I haven’t tested what happens when you use a PayPal button instead of a Pro-Form for registration, but I know that with s2Member Pro wp-login.php is completely disabled. I agree it doesn’t make sense for this to happen with the free version of s2Member though.

Do you have logging enabled? Check the logs to see if there are any error messages regarding registration details not being sent back from PayPal. Look for Unable To Verify $_POST Vars and any other errors saying information is missing.
