Members Can't Log In

People who have registered as open subscribers are saying that they cannot always log in using their details.

I have checked with some test logins and it does seem temperamental.

I tried switching off the WP Bruiser plugin first but the issue persists.

I tried switching the email verification procedure off to simplify things but it still wouldn’t allow logins unless an activation link had been clicked.

Not sure how to begin troubleshooting this - any ideas?

Thanks.

s2Member doesn’t have anything to do with logins, so this is a general WordPress issue.

It is probably caused by another security plugin (not WPBruiser) or by caching (whether by plugin or and server level).

I have the same issue. And I believe s2member is involved with it.

I’ve not yet been able to figure out a fix.

Also, in an effort to simplify the process, I switched off email confirmation so that users can just set a password and log in.

However, once registered it says ‘Registration complete. Please log in.’ - but then login fails.

It’s still requesting email verification and the URI is /wp-login.php?checkemail=registered

Is this supposed to happen? If so, it’s a bit confusing for the user.

Thanks.

You can believe what you like. But that doesn’t make it true.

Keep it simple. If you try to address several things at once, you will never have a clue about what is going on.

Forget s2Member. It has nothing to do with logins. Deactivate it if you wish. But certainly turn off all other plugins. Does logging in work now?

Hi Tim, I’m able to log in although my users are still having issues.

I contacted my hosting team who suggested using a different URL to direct users to the login form.

Hopefully that will do it.
