Login effort, redirects to Wordpress login page

I am using S2Member Pro, and the login widget.
When users attempt to login, on the main page of the website, they get redirected to the Wordpress login page. Any ideas on how to avoid this?

The most likely cause is a plugin conflict, but are you running a single site or multisite?

I am running a single site.I can try deactivating plugins to see if any of them are causing the problem, but I doubt this could be the cause.

Why do you doubt it? That’s what I’d suggest.

Well I say that because I’ve been using the same plugins for a couple of years, and I didn’t have this problem before.

Were you using the s2Member login widget with them before?

yes. I have always used the widget.

Then something has obviously changed. So why do you suspect it’s an s2Member thing, and not a problem with another plugin?

Because the login attempt is done using S2member widget, but it fails to log you in and redirects you to Wordpress login.
I recently updated to the latest version of S2Member, also updated to latest Wordpress release, something somewhere changed in those updates. I unplugged some of the plugins, so far nothing fixed the problem.

That tells you absolutely nothing apart from the widget having a conflict with something else. What that something else is, and which one is the culprit, are things you have to investigate.

So what happens if I find that one of the plugins is causing the problem?? I still can’t do without that plugin. I use it because I need it. What happens then? (I’m still deactivating plugins to see which one, if any is the culprit)

You need to deactivate them all and change to a default theme. If it works then, you know there was a conflict. Then you add them back one by one.

If you find the culprit, you report the conflict to the developers of both plugins (or theme) and in this forum to see what everyone says. In the meantime, you see if you can find an alternative. I like to have a backup plugin for every one that I use. It’s not always possible, of course, but it saves a lot of time (and hair) later!
