Htaccess file permissions

Hey there folks.

I’m not experienced at this at all, but I just had to move my Wordpress site with S2Member Pro from server to another. In the process, any link in my protected site that tries to download a file from the s2member-files directory fails and sends the user to my membership options and sign up page, even though they’re logged in. This happens even to me as the admin. I’ve seen that both the root htaccess and the one in the files directory are important, and they seem to exist. Could this be a permissions problem on one or both of those htaccess files? Or something else? All other content behind the login seems to be fine, it is specifically the files in the files directory that cause this symptom.
Thanks!

I think it’s more likely to be a permissions problem with the files themselves. Use your FTP client to check that the permissions match those of other files on your site.
