Help Needed Please: Installing Pro

Hello all!

First time using s2member so please bear with me as this is pretty new.

TL;DR - Pro installed according to instructions but doesnt work/ show Other Gateway options

Not sure what am I missing, would greatly appreciate if anyone can lend a hand please. Thanks!

  1. Followed instructions [https://s2member.com/installation/] to install the free version [v170722] via WP dashboard
  2. Followed instructions to extract and upload pro via ftp
  3. Free version was showing on WP sidebar its Pro but there wasnt any mention of “Other Gateway”

Notes:

  • Install were done on two sites; one is current live site and one is a fresh WP install on a staging site
  • Both sites originally had WP Rocket installed, but for troubleshooting WP Rocket was deactivated
  • Staging site currently only has the S2member and WP Rocket plugin installed. Only s2member is activated at the moment

You have a more significant problem on your site. You can see it from the screenshot of your list of plugins. You are missing the second line for the description of any of your plugins (the one that provides version number and author details).

That suggests to me either a hosting problem or a permissions problem (i.e. the folders and files on your site are not set to the correct permissions).

Good catch on that. I had my host do abit of troubleshooting and they came back saying once s2member is deactivated the author, version details came back. Do you reckon it’s a bad install file from s2member?

I did a search on the forum and there are several few instances of the same issue whereby the pro doesn’t get recognised. Those previous original posters did not report back on how the issue got rectified. Those post also did not go into depth about having the missing versions and authors of the plugins.

What do you think the issue can be? I will be deleting the pro folder later and see if the free s2member plugin still show the same error.

I deleted the pro folder and activated the free s2member plugin and voila those author version details came right back.

Its either a wrong install or faulty pro zip. Do you have a more detailed install guide for the pro? I followed right down to the T for a few times and it’s still getting error.

  1. Install s2member standard plugin
  2. Do I activate first or do not activate it yet???
  3. Unzip pro and FTP with the exact dir, careful not to duplicate the s2member-pro folder nested
  4. Activate s2member plugin
  5. The plugin should auto detect the pro features

Apart from step 2, not sure where I gone wrong …

Also, do you know where I can get an older version of both the free and pro zip files? Wanna troubleshoot to see if the zip files are the ones giving problems

Problem resolved

Actually host helped me install but they didt’t change permissions. So no I don’t have the solution.

Might have to get them to install everytime I deploy on new site.

Could be the FTP method I use that had errors, don’t knowl
