General Options overwritten by second language

I have a multi-language site, default language is English and second language is Chinese. We are using WPML with separate urls for each language. When I attempt to set the welcome page for Chinese users it removes the selection for English pages and results in English users being redirected to the registration page upon login. If I then set the English page the Chinese option is removed and the Chinese users are redirected to the Registration page upon login. Is this expected behavior? It seems setting options in one language, wipes the General Options for the other.

Any insight is most appreciated.

Anyone, please? It is possible to have a multi-language site, using s2member pro, where the logins occur on different sub-domains (each language is served up from a different sub-domain, from the same single WP instance via WPML) and are directed to the languages respective welcome page?
