Free registration - user passwords won't work

Hi there,

I am an autodidact so please forgive me, if my question is silly or the problem is known and solved - I really looked hard to find an answer…

I am using S2members Pro on a little website and selling via PayPal works perfectly.

Now I integrated free registration as level 0, and obviously some of my users are experiencing problems with their passwords during signup. After receiving the registration email and setting a custom password, they are not able to log in with the new password. So they start a loop of resetting their passwords over and over again and finally give up.

I wasn’t able to recreate the problem on my own PC (tried with different email adresses and registrations) but many users told me about the problem. As it is hard to recreate it, I am not sure what to do.

Here is the free signup-page with the registration form on the bottom (its in german but the usual layout: surname, name, email, username) :

Has anyone any suggestions or ideas?

thank you very much for your help! All the best from Berlin/Germany

Kristin

Guten Tag, Kristin!

The first problem I notice when clicking on your link is that Firefox warns me that:

Your connection is not secure. The owner of geburt-in-hypnose.de has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

Now Firefox is always a bit more timid (more secure?) than other browsers, but I think that provides a clue. Maybe there’s a problem with the way you have installed your SSL certificate.

Connecting with Chromium reveals the following issues:

GET https://geburt-in-hypnose.de/wp-content/plugins/google-analyticator/external-tracking.min.js?ver=6.5.0 net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT

jquery-migrate.min.js?ver=1.4.1:2 JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1
2challenge?k=6LeCANsSAAAAAIIrlB3FrXe42mr0OSSZpT0pkpFK:17 A Parser-blocking, cross-origin script, https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/js/recaptcha.js, is invoked via document.write. This may be blocked by the browser if the device has poor network connectivity.

Thank you very much for your fast answer and help! That could indeed be a clue. I will try to figure out, if there is a ssl-problem, maybe change the certificate. I guess I used a free one provided by my hoster… Maybe time to spend some money…

Kristin, don’t spend money until you know for sure! I use a free Let’s Encrypt certificate with s2Member and it works very well. I just think that something is not set up correctly.

I justed checked my ssl-certificate and noticed the intermediate certificate was missing. I just added it. Is there a way to check if everythings works properly?

Well, Firefox allows me to connect now! You still have the errors I reported before, though. I suggest setting up your own member account and then trying to login with that.

Thank you very much!!!
