Free Members and Duplicate Accounts

Hi,

If a free member does not go through an upgrade button to move to a paid membership, I assume they will have to register a new set of details?

This could be a problem if they try to access locked content and are sent to the membership options page (adding the upgrade button alongside the regular sign up button on there might cause issues if non-members end up trying to subscribe through that button?).

Is there a way to avoid potential issues and keep the upgrade process simple for free members?

Just add a note to you MOP telling current members to login, and only put upgrade buttons on pages that can be accessed only by logged-in members (or use short code conditionals so that such buttons can only be seen by logged-in members).

Hi Tim, thanks for the reply.

Any idea why this URI takes the user to the PayPal but does not show the upgrade form once they log in (they just get their dashboard)?

No. I don’t use PayPal. I use Stripe. It’s much better.
