Error #E00008. User authentication failed. The account or API user is inactive

When testing registration/payments I get: Error #E00008. User authentication failed. The account or API user is inactive. Wasn’t able to find any info on this particular error. Any assistance would be appreciated.

It might be helpful if you mentioned what payment gateway you are using. In any case, however, I’d start by double-checking that all the Options for whatever gateway it is are correct.

I’m using s2member pro with a PayPal standard gateway. I’ll give that a try and report back.

  1. Have you implemented any kind of IP access management on your PayPal account?
  2. Check that you’ve authorized recurring billing on the account (if it is a recurring transaction you are having problems with).
