Email notification - no email being sent

I’m not getting an email notification when someone creates a membership anymore. Any suggestions?

M

The first step to troubleshooting this is to install the Email Log plugin to see whether emails are being sent out when someone registers.

You should also install a general logging plugin, such as Activity Log, so that in future you will be able to see what changes have happened on your site since a now-problematic feature was last known to work.

Okay thanks. It says email log is empty, so I assume no eails are being sent? What else can I do? How can I actually get the emails to be sent again?

M

OK, first, what was the changes in your site and hosting, that caused that? Find and fix.

Check if only this email is stopped, or other emails go out as usual.

No changes have been made. All emails have stopped being sent. I’ve uploaded the WP Mail SMTP plugin and still having an issue.

Use the Postman SMTP plugin, not WP Mail SMTP, to diagnose and fix the issue.

Hmmm. That doesn’t seem to showup in the wordpress plugin market place.

Is that the actual title?

M

Hmm is right. That is its title. But you’re right. It’s not available at the moment. It looks like it was found to have a cross-scripting vulnerability so has been removed from the repo until a fixed version is uploaded.

You can actually still download Postman from here: https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/postman-smtp/tags/ (Pick the one right at the bottom.) This thread tells you how to fix the vulnerability: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/postman-smtp-maileremail-log-is-prone-to-a-cross-site-scripting-vulnerability/

I don’t come from a technical background. Does s2member provide hands on assistance for people who have pro accounts?

No, unfortunately not.

My suggestion would be to use Postman anyway (even without the patch) just to diagnose the issue. Then you’ll know where you stand and can make a decision about what to do then.
