Duplicate Customers in Stripe

Hello,
In Stripe I have duplicate customers (same email, name etc) when a new one year fixed membership is purchased, but in s2member I only see that person once. I assume this is because I was leading renewals to a normal registration page, when I should have been pointing them to renew to a “Billing Modification Form”. If I did that Stripe would have kept past renewals under one customer ID in Stripe? But if a member renews on the “generic registration form page” and they are logged in does that still create a duplicate customer in Stripe? Thank you.
