My site has several PDF files that are fairly large (over 500MB in size) and are protected by s2member. Frequently attempts to download these files fail, most usually right at the very end of the download. ModSecurity has been disabled on my site, so I’m not sure what else might be the trouble.
One thing that I have noticed is that when the files are not protected but instead are put in a directory and accessed via a direct URL reference, the files seem to download without trouble. They also download faster… looking at the wifi usage on my computer, downloading the unprotected files produces a steady high wifi rate. But downloading the protected files yields a choppy wifi rate (high, then low, then high, then low, etc).
One question: is there a way to override the file compression that s2member performs when protected files are downloaded?
