Do I have to use Paypal / Stripe

I’ve got free content that I’m looking to share, and just require user registration.
Can I use shortcodes or a form / simply link to the registration page - without have to use Stripe or Paypal?

Sure – that’s why there’s a level 0/subscriber role. It’s for free members.

That’s what I thought … but then how do I create the sign up form? (is there a list of shortcodes somewhere / form design I can use)?

Not need - s2M uses WP member-related forms and pages. Better install s2M and read inline docs.

Docs stay into the s2M admin pages. Just read, think about what you need, and do.
