Buddypress group and Mailchimp Group - Registration combo

Hi all,

I’ve searched high and low for an answer to this issue and from what I’ve read and played around with I think that s2Member may be on the road to helping me get it sorted but I just can’t get it to work. This thread discussing the issue I’m having brought me to s2Member.

So,

I have 6 buddypress groups and 6 mailchimp groups. The groups correspond with each other; group1 buddypress is related to group1 mailchimp and so-on and so-forth.

I’d like for people to register on the site (using the buddypress registration form) to be able to join a group (using buddypress registration groups plugin) and then automatically join the corresponding mailchimp group (not yet achieved).

This looks possible using the membership levels feature but it’s not quite what I’m after because people should be able to join all of the groups if they’d like.

I found this useful snippet from 2012 but nothing more recent and it doesn’t work for me.

I’we created a plugin to synchronize s2M and MC, works with user capabilities, but not with MC groups (works with MC’s “merge tags” instead). Maybe it will be possible to set to recognize subscriptions of your members and to save need info in your MC list(s). Please find me on PM, if interested.

Thanks for getting back to me.

The MERGE tags idea has been used before I believe: https://www.primothemes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10151&p=60801#p61012 - however I can’t get this to work - it is a very old thread so possibly out of date.

I’ll have a look at your plugin and see if it is any different.
