Hi Les!
Yes, you can do that. See: WP Admin > s2Member > Download Options > Custom Capability & Member Level Files
To restrict the PDFs to Level 1 members, move your Articles folder inside this directory: /wp-content/plugins/s2member-files/access-s2member-level1
Then, to link to a PDF, use a URL like this: https://www.example.com/?s2member_file_inline=yes&s2member_file_download=access-s2member-level1/Articles/zebra.pdf
The s2member_file_inline=yes part tells s2Member to serve the PDF for inline viewing, so the browser can display it instead of downloading it.
You can also add pdf under Download Options > Inline File Extensions if you want all your protected PDFs to open this way by default.
Displaying a PDF in the browser doesn’t prevent authorized members from saving a copy, though.
Make sure you’ve also configured your Membership Options Page under General Options, and your Level 1 download allowance under Download Options > Basic Download Restrictions. Both are required for the file restrictions to work.
Remember that higher membership levels can also access files protected at lower levels. For example, a Level 2 member can access Level 1 files. https://s2member.com/kb-article/s2member-rolescapabilities/
