Yesterday all s2 member roles suddenly disappeared from our site. All members that previously had a s2 member role of 1-4, has now not any assigned roles.
When looking at the available roles to assign to a user, none of the default s2 member roles appear anymore.
What could have happened?
If s2Member is still activated, it sounds like something has “cleaned” the database. If s2Member is not active, then it sounds like someone has turned off Plugin Deletion Safeguards and then deleted it.
I deactivated and reactivated the plugin and then all the standard roles came back.
Yes, that’s precisely what should happen.
But you didn’t ask about that. You asked why the roles disappeared in the first place. Simply deactivating the plugin alone won’t cause the roles to disappear, so something else happened, as I explained.
