Administrative email not arriving

Hi there, we use s2member on loads of sites and this issue is a first for me. We have a site running 3 member levels, the user doesn’t set their own password.

The member emails arrive just fine, but the administrative one never arrives. I’ve tried copying in other email addresses with no luck, and disabling ithemes security just in case. I’ve also checked my error logs and there is nothing there either.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!!

Have you, perhaps, previously turned them off with an mu-plugin?

Afraid not, we only have one mu-plugin and all it does is dynamically load a shortcode. Client does have event espresso lite and mail poet installed but as far as I know none of these turn off emails (pretty sure we have other clients running event espresso with s2member too…)

Then it sounds like you need to do the usual checking for conflicts routine and turn everything else off – not just one thing at a time – and clear all caches.

So I’ve just been doing some testing on their development site. I also checked our mail logs as I am only sending the administrative email to myself.

My mail logs show both the user email (landing in one of our other mailboxes) and the administrative one being delivered to me, the status says “accepted” but when I try to click on the email message in the mail delivery reports (which should preview the email) it can’t load it.

Could the message be corrupt somehow?

I’ve tried installing fresh copies of s2member and pro this morning too but it’s made no difference… all plugins are deactivated.

Any ideas on what else I can try?

If you have a log of an email being sent, then the problem is not with s2Member. It sounds more like a problem with your host’s email server.

I suggest you try the successor to the Postman STMP plugin (can’t remember what it’s called).

I’m still stuck with this :pensive: I’ve tried 2 SMTP plugins (inc the one you recommended), tested on 2 hosting packages which reside on different servers, with 2 different sets of SMTP details (for different email services/servers) and still the admin email doesn’t arrive… On the test site there are no plugins or themes active (just twenty seventeen).

I’ve even tried deleting all the deactivated plugins in case it’s something interfering without being active…

I’m not sure what else to try.

I would ask the developer of your email log plugin. I don’t think that plugin is the cause if your problem, but s/he might have seen this before. If the dev is Sudar, he is very knowledgeable.
