Add custom capabiilties in bulk

Is there any way to do this. I have, say 50 people who are already registered (out of 1000) who I want to give a capability. Is there an easy way to do this without editing each user?

There are two ways that I know of:

  1. If they all share a user role, and that role is not shared by others to whom you do not wish to add the capability, you can use Capability Manager Enhanced plugin to add the capability to the role.
  2. Otherwise, you’ll need to export your list of users using s2Member’s export function, edit the spreadsheet in LibreOffice to add the capability, and then import the spreadsheet back again.

Thanks. Yes, I suppose another way building on what you have said is to create a new role with that capability and then select all of the users one wants to have that role and off they go - but not always so straight forward because not all current users have the same status.
